Caroline Hopper

Senior Writer & Workshop Leader

What do you do?

I write. I think. I write some more.

Why do you do it?

Writing for businesses is like the perfect combination of English and Maths. You can be as creative as you want, but there’s always a formula to work to, too. That and my baking career is yet to take off.

What projects have you worked on?

I’ve helped a global information company tell stories about some of the great things it’s done, to bring its work to life, and to inspire everyone else in the company. I’ve written a style guide for a leading bank, created a tone of voice for a cancer research institution, and helped a health insurance company build trust.

What do you do when you’re not at work?

I bake. I often take those free-from recipes but then add back in the things that they’re free from. So just like baking normal cakes, really, but I feel more like an inventive baker if I do it that way round. I also dance, and sometimes I combine the two.

What’s your favourite word?

Dimpsey. Apparently it’s used in Cornwall and Devon to describe the time in the evening just before dusk. Dimpsey. Isn’t that nice?
