GET TO KNOW US
What do you do?
I talk to new clients, find out what matters to them, and work out how we can help. Then I bring the right people together – get them excited, and make sure they’re keen to do well.
Why do you do it?
I love the rollercoaster of building a business. There’s nothing better for me than winning a client’s trust, delivering excellent work, and being appreciated for it. I particularly enjoy unpicking a client’s conundrum, or coming at their problem with a fresh perspective, knowing that we can make a difference.
Which projects have you worked on?
In the early days of Quietroom, I was involved in everything that came through the door. But now I don’t work much on the day-to-day specifics of a project. I’m the office news junkie though – always asking my staff ‘how did it go?’, ‘who was there?’ or ‘which idea did they go with?’ Even if I’m not on the frontline, I always know exactly what’s going on.
Which project are you most proud of?
I’m proud of so much of our work that it’s hard to pick just one thing. I love it when we unearth really valuable insight about our client’s audience, or when we create clarity around an issue and I can see the relief in a client’s face. I’m especially proud of our work in communicating important issues – like having enough to live on when you’re older, finding a better way to look after the environment or the importance of paying tax.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I cook for and tidy up after my three live-at-home-children (this won’t last for ever so I’m making the most of it). I escape on my bicycle as often as I can, and explore junk markets with my wife.
What are life’s simple pleasures?
Cheering in a crowd. Diving into cool clear water on a hot day. Learning a new thing. Singing my heart out round a piano with people I love. Small acts of kindness between strangers.
