Content & Admin Intern
What do you do?
My job is to keep the office ticking and ease the burden on the team by taking care of the little things. I’m also looking to get experience in researching and helping the team write.
Why do you do it?
Admittedly, the intern rarely has the most sensational role, but it’s incredibly educational nonetheless. At risk of sounding stale, I’m genuinely here to help and learn.
Which projects have you worked on?
I’m new to Quietroom, but in other areas of my life I’m proud of my essay writing in analytic philosophy. That might sound stuffy and out of touch, but I’ve found writing philosophy to be the perfect exercise in using language to clarify and order our shared, messy concepts. Turns out there is a practical application for that skill!
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
An inordinate amount of my spare time is spent getting lost down internet rabbit holes. In the same way that someone from a previous generation might have mindlessly flicked through TV channels, I find myself semi-mindlessly browsing Wikipedia pages and other sites. Hours lost to aimlessly reading about things like the autonomous communities of Spain.
What’s your favourite word?
It varies. A front runner is definitely “trembling”, but I also love the Latinate jargon of the scientific world. I don’t always understand it, but the rhythm can be beautiful. Try this one on for size: hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene.
