Simon Grover

Lead Writer

What do you do?

I lead projects and writing teams to help solve clients’ problems. I also help to improve the skills and knowledge of other writers at Quietroom.

Why do you do it?

I am obsessed with words. Even at home, I am often to be found with my nose in the Shorter Oxford. So why not do it here too and get paid?

Which projects have you worked on?

I’ve worked on live action films and animations with KPMG, First Group, Experian, the Civil Service, Lloyds Bank, Bristol City Council, Whitbread, the Pensions & Lifetime Savings Association and B&CE. I’ve written marketing material for AXA, PruHealth, Ross Trustees, Good Energy, HBOS, Royal London and Prudential. I’ve written letter templates, retirement communications and web copy for Royal Bank of Scotland, HMRC, Starbucks, British Steel Pension Scheme, Kodak Pension Plan, Urenco, HBOS, Royal London, the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Cunningham Lindsey. I’ve run workshops for Diabetes UK, Not on the high street, the Institute of Cancer Research and TSB.

Which project are you most proud of?

I was very proud of our extended work with the trustees of the Kodak Pension Plan and more recently with the British Steel Pension Scheme. Through videos, letters, newsletters and web copy, we helped thousands of members understand complex choices and make good decisions about their future.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

I’ve written over 100 episodes of children’s television shows, including The Tweenies, Gigglebiz and Bobinogs. My early career was in acting, and I still do that occasionally, such as this ad for Advent  and ten seconds on screen as a Deatheater  in Harry Potter. I’m also a district councillor in my home town of St Albans.

What have you got on your desk?

A cactus, a bike horn and little statue of a tall thin man.
